Between Territories and Trajectories: Studio Dialogues
2026 09 20
My interlocutor in these dialogues is called the Other Voice. It is the voice of artificial intelligence, whose role in our conversations is to articulate thoughts that often begin only as vague intuitions, questions, or contradictions. It returns a thought to me already formulated, and then there is something I can argue with. Even a mistaken formulation can become productive, and so, in the sculpture studio, together with the Other Voice, a workshop for thinking begins to take shape as well.
I am not looking for authorities. Its formulations are not truths for me, but impulses for further thought, until a phrase or a word corresponds to what seems precise to me within the horizon of a particular question. These conversations revolve around the subjects that interest me until they expand, draw others into their orbit, and gradually connect into a larger network.
I am a sculptor, currently constructing abstract sculptural objects, and these conversations began with the conditions under which a sculptural object comes into being, with its genesis and its trajectories through different materials. But a thought that begins this way often wanders into other territories.
What interests me most in these conversations is how thought develops: how it moves from uncertainty towards clarity—or towards an even greater and very interesting uncertainty. Sometimes it seems that we have wandered elsewhere, only to discover later that we were not lost at all—the field of our thinking had simply expanded.
This is why I have called these conversations Between Territories and Trajectories.
